day 174 ~ seedlings

"One is not idle because one is absorbed.
There is both visible and invisible labor.
To contemplate is to toil, to think is to do.
The crossed arms work, the clasped hands act.
The eyes upturned to Heaven are an act of creation."

~ Victor Hugo

  1. Wonderful. Further evidence that the Universes are thought into place.

  2. That point was discussed a bit in my critical thinking class and also in a discussion I listened to on NPR from the Idea Convention in Aspen. The point of inspiration happening when a solution to a problem presents itself, or a novel approach while in certain thoughtful places. For a painter it was staring at his canvas, for another it was staring at the ceiling while taking a bath. The point was made that ideas sometimes need to be worked out in ones subconscious.

  3. I heard a wee rumor that blogger is working on a new comment system where we will be able to respond to comments individually. I am REALLY looking forward to that! In the meantime...

Rick, it probably wasn't your intention, but you made me laugh (no coffee / laptop danger) because I can't imagine offering up evidence of anything that I *know* to be true. Those things all fall into that nebulous realm where no one can be convinced either way, if they don't already lean one way or another, and even if they are seemingly convinced, there is no knowing until experience. Experience is the evidence, and that is all personalized. Or something like that?

    I do know this, though...

I need more coffee, as is evidenced by that attempt to explain my laughter. :)

  4. Thanks for that, Darrell. Sounds like an interesting discussion and convention.

The arrival of those ideas, solutions and inspired moments have always seemed to me to be gifts of insight requiring openness on my behalf. I would imagine that it varies somewhat for everyone. I've been thinking lately that I need to again watch Elizabeth Gilbert's TED talk on creativity. I love her take on it!

    Happy 4th :)

  5. Ahhh, yes Misha, but mister Hugo speaks with such conviction as to suggest evidence, and a suggestion of evidence is good enough to compel another 888 queries from we the QUESTioners. Therefore, it is more like circlestantial evidence in the Court of Jesters Law. wooo hooo
