day 277 ~ pondside peeper

"Someday, we'll find it that rainbow connection
the lovers, the dreamers and me."

~ Kermit The Frog

I've been feeling a bit croakish over the past couple of days, which is no way to begin a four day weekend, no way at all. However, THIS made me smile:

Love trees and sweet, eye popping photography? I do. I do! Love your work, Rick. Thanks for the breath of fresh air. The sweet breeze is palpable, and it's not from the chills that were wracking me feverish yesterday. :)

Here's something else that makes me smile. Always has. Always will.

This video is the opening scene from "The Muppet Movie." In 1979, Jim Henson was nominated for an Academy Award for this magical creation. Born in 1967, I was a part of the first generation blessed by growing up with Sesame Street. When their evening spinoff was introduced, my dad became a big fan of The Muppet Show. Unfortunately, he died before being able to see the movie.

I remember seeing it that year, with my mom, little sister and little brother. Despite my grief, I wasn't able to "not laugh", not that anyone expected me to stifle my laughter, it just somehow didn't come as naturally as it once did. This opening scene struck chords in my young heart, a resonance that rang so deeply, so true. How many morning stars had I already wished upon?

I cried

and then, I laughed and laughed...

Ah, life.

Bless you, Jim Henson.

  1. What a great post, Misha, and super generous of you to plug that tree post; thank you! I'll be back later to enjoy the video here. I hope you get to feeling much better and soon. Those four day weekends are extremely rare and you need to enjoy as much of 'em as possible.

  2. I love this photo. :)

We are all HUGE Muppet fans in this house, getting frustrated over the lonnnngggg wait for Season 4 of The Muppet Show to be released on DVD.

I hope you feel better fast and can enjoy your long weekend.

  3. Rick, I love sharing things that light me up inside and your post is definitely that.

I am feeling much better. Thank you for the well wishes. My body decided to go on strike for a couple of days, which is one way to get me to stop doing. A vacation would be a better way, though.

What was that I was just saying about being a dreamer?

  4. Thanks, Ange. That little peeper hung out with me for a good long time.

The Muppets rock. Did you see the trailer for "Being Elmo"? If not, get your sweet self over to youtube and check it out. I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

    Thanks :)
