On the way to school this morning, we were treated to one of the most spectacular sunrises I have seen for a very long time. With thick storm clouds covering the entire sky, except the eastern horizon, the sun rose and belly lit those dramatic divas in pink. Ignoring their moody countenances, the sun continued its climb, growing more golden while casting a myriad of colors into the dark cloud shelf: purple, dark blue, orange, yellow, pink. Powerfully beautiful.
I was kicking myself that I hadn't brought my camera along.
After dropping the children at school, I tried to capture a bit of the beauty with my cell phone by pulling down streets I thought might lend a proper vantage point, but my little cell phone was clearly not up for the challenge of capturing such layered wow, especially since the dramatic shelf had already adopted some of the sun's lightheartedness and spun itself cotton candy like.
Driving home, heading towards the city, the rain really picked up. This is:

Here's hoping your Monday wows you in some unexpected way.

Your description of that display goes a long way toward providing a visual picture of it, even where your camera and the later timing couldn't. I really like the strong abstract vibe in the second frame, too.
ReplyDeleteIt was an abstract kinda moment, Rick, one that begged for the windshield wipers to be turned off and the camera to click.
ReplyDeleteHigh praise from you, dear King of Description.
